It’s official: Taylor Swift will be taking the stage at MTV’s 2009 Video Music Awards.
The teen country sensation is the first performer to be confirmed for entertainment’s most unpredictable awards show, to be held Sept. 13 in locations around New York City, including Radio City Music Hall.
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done!” says Swift, who will sing a new version of her song “You Belong With Me” from her hit album Fearless.
The appearance will mark the first time Swift, 19, will sing at the Video Music Awards – and fans can expect the unexpected.
“I love incorporating theatrics into my performances,” Swift says, “and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that. MTV has been so good to me, and I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs.”
Really exciting. :)
